Large scale puppet performances in collaboration with Social Studies and Language arts
The puppet making process: Students work in groups to determine what creatures and animals they will create. Building upon prior art learning of drawing and sculpture, students draw the creature and then use newspaper and other recyclables to build a 3D form on top of their drawing. Students then paper mache their creation and paint their finished project.
Or... students design their own puppets or masks depending on the character that they want to portray.
