Painting
Starting from a palette of primary colors plus black and white, students learn to take control of the deeper meaning of color through color mixing activities and emotional responses to color. From this basic starting point, students paint either a specific memory, from observation, or they try to give a visual form to an abstract concept.
They go on to discuss how artists use details, color and balance to evoke a sense of place. They also study the very different work of contemporary artists to value different approaches.
